The Central Executive Board of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (DPP KSPSI) has urged all students and members of the public planning to express their views at demonstrations on 28 October 2026 to do so in an orderly, safe and peaceful manner. KSPSI warned demonstrators not to be provoked.

“KSPSI respects every citizen’s right, including that of students, to express an opinion in public in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. However, KSPSI reminds demonstrators to act responsibly, not to be provoked, not to engage in acts of violence, and not to damage public facilities or harm the wider public interest,” a KSPSI statement received on Tuesday (27 October 2026) said.

The statement was signed by KSPSI Chair Jumhur Hidayat and Secretary-General Arif Minardi.

KSPSI also called for views to be conveyed through peaceful means, deliberation and dialogue.

“Given that the current Government has been highly accommodating and open to public input,” it said.

KSPSI also called on all parties, including security forces, to prioritise a persuasive and humane approach in maintaining public order. The public was urged not to spread hoaxes or information that could inflame the situation.
