KSPSI Supports Police Remaining Directly Under Presidential Authority
The Confederation of All Indonesian Workers’ Unions (KSPSI) has reiterated its position that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) should remain under the direct authority of the President. KSPSI declared it would stand at the forefront in supporting Polri.
KSPSI President Andi Gani Nena Wea made the remarks during his address at the organisation’s 53rd anniversary celebration held at PT Victor Chinglu Indonesia in Pasar Kemis, Tangerang Regency, on Monday (16/2/2026).
“Chief of Police, we the Indonesian labour movement are consistent — we stand with Polri, supporting Polri to remain under the President. Whatever happens, we will not be behind you, Chief, but in front of you. If someone swerves, it’s not those behind who suffer but those in front, so we all advance together,” said Andi Gani.
Andi Gani revealed that KSPSI would attend a Public Hearing (RDPU) with Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI). He said KSPSI would once again convey its stance in support of Polri remaining under presidential authority.
“Commission III of the DPR will invite the three presidents of labour confederations for the public hearing, and we will firmly state before the DPR that the labour movement, through the three largest labour confederations, will remain loyal in supporting the steps of the Chief of Police and Polri in particular, and will continue to support the firm position that Polri must remain under the President,” said Andi Gani.
He stated that KSPSI does not want Polri placed under a ministry. According to him, placing Polri under a ministry would complicate bureaucracy and service delivery.
“Because we do not want Polri under a ministry, which would greatly complicate bureaucracy, complicate services, and the President’s command over Polri would be hindered by such bureaucracy,” said Andi Gani.
“And most importantly, services at the Labour Desk would certainly be hampered as a result. We ask for your prayers that KSPSI will always remain steadfast and loyal on the same line of struggle,” he concluded.
