KSPSI says President Prabowo will attend May Day commemoration at Monas

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President of the Indonesian Confederation of All-Indonesia Labour Unions (KSPSI), Andi Gani Nena Wea, stated that President Prabowo Subianto will attend the Labour Day or May Day commemoration at the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta on Friday (1/5). “(May Day) will be attended by President Prabowo Subianto. There will also be an international labour figure who will attend in person,” Andi said during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday. He explained that the May Day event will begin at 08:00 WIB, with an estimated 211,000 workers expected to attend. “So, 211,000 has been reached, twice as large as last year’s May Day. Last year it was around 130,000, this year around 200,000 plus,” he stated. He said that the hundreds of thousands of workers come from various regions and labour confederations. According to him, shortly before 08:00 WIB, President Prabowo will arrive at Monas and will begin delivering the state address at 08:30 WIB. The event will end at 11:00 WIB as it enters Friday prayer time. He assured that the committee has prepared for Friday prayers for the workers participating in the action. “We have prepared it, and there will be a national figure who will serve as the khatib and imam,” he said. Regarding this year’s May Day theme, he said that it is still being discussed further and the result will be announced soon. “On Wednesday (29/4), we will hold the final press conference, finalisation, and at the same time we will announce the May Day theme,” he stated.
