KSPSI President Reveals 55,000 Workers at Risk of Layoffs, One Company Already Shut Down

The President of the Confederation of All-Indonesian Workers’ Unions (KSPSI), Andi Gani Nena Wea, has stated that around 55,000 workers in Indonesia are threatened with termination of employment (PHK). This was conveyed after a meeting with Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Cucun Ahmad Syamsuridjal, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Minister of Manpower Yassierli. “KSPSI Andi Gani is the most heavily impacted. 55,000 (workers) are already threatened imminently,” Andi said at the Parliament Complex in Central Jakarta on Friday, 26 June 2026. He noted that one company, PT Granito, has already shut down operations and laid off all its workers. “One company has already closed, PT Granito. Three days ago, the company summoned and declared that all workers were being laid off,” Andi revealed. Andi said the meeting also discussed the industrial gas crisis, with the government expected to make a decision soon to help industrial companies emerge from the crisis. He added that the meeting also addressed the issue of work plans and budgets (RKAB). “The RKAB issue also holds enormous potential for layoffs, affecting 150,000 workers,” Andi disclosed. Nevertheless, he is confident the government will act swiftly to safeguard the workers’ fate. “Hopefully, by Monday, there will be a decision regarding industrial gas and the RKAB,” he concluded.
