KSPSI President Condemns Acid Attack on Member in Bekasi
A man with the initials T was doused with acid in Setiamekar Village, Tambun Selatan Subdistrict, Bekasi Regency, West Java. The victim is a member of the All-Indonesian Confederation of Workers’ Unions (KSPSI) Bekasi.
“We strongly condemn the acid attack on our member. This is a heinous and inhumane act. We urge the police to thoroughly investigate this case, arrest the perpetrator, and uncover those behind the incident,” said KSPSI President Andi Gani Nena Wea in a written statement on Thursday (2/4/2026).
Andi stated that KSPSI will monitor the legal process of the case until it is resolved. The advisor to the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo also expressed thanks for the swift response from the Bekasi Police Resort in handling the case.
“There is now some progress in this case. Thank you for the quick response from Bekasi Police Chief Commissioner Sumarni and her team,” he said.
He also called for strict monitoring of acid sales. According to him, the substance has the potential to be misused.
“We ask the authorities to strictly monitor acid sales because it is very dangerous and is now often used as a means of attack,” he said.
Previously, the man with initials T was attacked by unknown persons (OTK) in Tambun Selatan, Bekasi. The victim was suddenly doused with acid, resulting in burns.
The incident was recorded on CCTV and went viral on social media. From the CCTV footage, the event occurred on Monday (30/3) at 04.51 WIB.
The narrative is that the victim had just returned from the mosque after performing dawn prayers when he was suddenly doused with acid, causing him to feel intense heat.
Based on the CCTV footage circulating on social media, two motorbike riders are seen passing by the victim. The victim, wearing a brown shirt and long trousers while walking, then appears to rub himself and remove his shirt.
