Jakarta - The Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Dudung Abdurachman, has warned the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), or the kitchens for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, not to focus solely on achieving targets.

Following a surprise inspection (sidak) in West Jakarta on Tuesday (12/5/2026), Dudung stressed that SPPG must ensure the nutritional value and health of the programme’s beneficiaries.

“If it’s just to meet food targets, catering services could do that too. But the most important thing is not just serving food, but its nutritional value and health benefits. That’s what the President always emphasises,” Dudung said on Tuesday, quoted from a written statement.

He mentioned that KSP will soon conduct a rapid audit of SPPG and verify them nationally.

“There will be classifications: fully worthy, conditionally worthy, or unworthy, so they cannot operate,” Dudung stated.

The former Army Chief of Staff emphasised that certificates and verification processes for SPPG kitchens must not stop at administrative aspects.

“The issue of certificates and verification is not limited to administration alone, but must be thoroughly assured, especially the health factor for beneficiaries. The two kitchens I inspected today are not worthy,” he asserted.

During the inspection of two SPPG units today, Dudung found several serious problems, particularly related to cleanliness, kitchen management, and food health standards.

Some of the issues found included dirty kitchen areas, presence of maggots, pallets that do not meet health standards, inadequate washing facilities, hot kitchen rooms, and mixed dry kitchen areas, wet storage, and dry warehouses.

Therefore, he threatened to close SPPG kitchens that do not meet standards soon if they are not improved promptly.

“If they cannot be fixed soon, just close them immediately. I will convey this to BGN,” Dudung emphasised.

KSP is also coordinating with the National Nutrition Agency to follow up on field findings so that non-compliant SPPG kitchens are promptly suspended.

“Clearly, I have coordinated with the Head of BGN and Deputy Head of BGN. After seeing the conditions directly in the field, we urge the Head of BGN to suspend the kitchens that do not meet standards,” said the former Pangdam Jaya.
