KSPN Stresses Government's Strong Commitment to Safeguarding National Industry
The assessment was delivered following clarification and cross-checking in the field regarding various issues developing in the automotive sector. KSPN President Ristadi stated that the government has consistently implemented policies favouring the sustainability of national industry. The statement was the result of KSPN’s National Leadership Meeting held on 26–27 June 2026 in Kertajati, Majalengka, West Java. During the forum, KSPN discussed various labour issues, ranging from investment, protection of existing industries, worker welfare, the process of forming a new Labour Law, to layoffs. One of the main concerns was the alleged relocation of two Japanese automotive component companies in East Java, namely PT Surabaya Autocomp Indonesia (SAI) and PT Jawa Autocomp Indonesia (JAI). The investigation found that the perception of a lack of government concern for the automotive industry was incorrect. KSPN also clarified the situation at PT SAI and PT JAI, stating that conditions at both companies were part of internal business dynamics and not caused by the relocation of production facilities from Indonesia to Vietnam. The workers’ organisation stressed that the production facilities of both companies continue to operate in Indonesia. Previously, the Ministry of Industry had dismissed rumours of plans to exit or relocate production facilities of two automotive component industries from Indonesia to Vietnam, stating that both companies were operating normally and contributing to national exports.
