KSPI's 11 Demands for May Day: Abolish Outsourcing to Appoint Honorary Teachers
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Confederation of Workers’ Unions (KSPI) will bring 11 main demands to the International Labour Day (May Day) celebrations in 2026 at the National Monument (Monas) area, Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026). “There are 11 issues or 11 hopes that KSPI wants to convey, supported by labour parties in this May Day celebration, to the government, both central government and regional governments throughout Indonesia,” said Said in an online press conference on Wednesday (29/4/2026). Secondly, workers demand the abolition of the outsourcing work system and reject the practice of low wages. “HOS, abolish outsourcing. TUM, reject low wages,” Said emphasised. Thirdly, workers highlight the impact of global conflicts that could trigger mass layoffs (PHK) in Indonesia, urging the government to anticipate such risks. Fifthly, workers demand the approval of the asset seizure bill as part of efforts to eradicate corruption. Sixthly, the government is asked to save the textile and textile products (TPT) industry as well as the nickel industry from the threat of layoffs. Seventhly, KSPI pushes for a moratorium on the cement industry because it is deemed to be experiencing oversupply. Eighthly, workers demand that the government ratify International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention Number 190 on the elimination of violence and harassment in the world of work, especially for female workers. Ninthly, KSPI is also fighting for a reduction in online motorcycle taxi fees to 10 percent. Tenthly, workers urge the revision of Law Number 2 of 2004 on the settlement of industrial relations disputes to make it more just. Eleventhly, workers demand that the government appoint honorary teachers and staff, including part-time PPPK, as full-time civil servants (ASN). “No more part-time PPPK, all must be full-time,” Said emphasised.
