JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian Confederation of Labour Unions (KSPI) has confirmed that the 101 individuals secured by police during the labour action in front of the DPR RI Building on Friday (1/5/2026) are not part of their group. “Up to now, there are none from KSPI,” said KSPI Vice President Kahar S Cahyono when contacted by Kompas.com on Saturday (2/5/2026). He assured that all the masses under his organisation’s coordination followed the May Day commemoration in an orderly and centralised manner in the National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta. Therefore, KSPI stated that they do not understand and are not involved in the action taking place outside the Monas area. “KSPI is only at Monas. So we don’t understand the action outside Monas,” he said. According to him, the KSPI action masses were also directed to convey aspirations peacefully during the demonstration in the Monas area. Metro Jaya Police’s Director of General Criminal Investigation, Commissioner Pol Iman Imanuddin, said the data was obtained from initial counting results. “Because most of them come from outside Jakarta, we are also trying to contact their families to pick them up,” he said during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Friday. Besides their origins, Iman revealed that the age range of the secured individuals is between 20 and 35 years. “Regarding whether they are structured or trained, we are still conducting further investigation. Because their initial statements indicate they are partial groups who arrived sporadically,” Iman said. He emphasised that his side is still probing the possibility of a wider network behind the 101 secured individuals. Currently, the 101 people are still undergoing examination for further investigation.
