Jakarta (ANTARA) - Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) Dudung Abdurachman has urged the public to always be wary of misleading information and provocations circulating on various social media platforms that could pose a threat to national unity and integrity. At the VII Congress of the Indonesian Christian Intelligentsia Union (PIKI) in Jakarta on Thursday, Dudung stated that diverse provocative content can currently be found on social media, aiming to disrupt national unity and integrity. “Therefore, let us keep our eyes and ears open to continue listening and seeing, but focus on positive things. Do not get carried away by misleading information,” Dudung said. He explained that vigilance is particularly necessary in the ‘post-truth’ era, where lies can be believed as truth if conveyed repeatedly. “Therefore, be cautious with every piece of information,” he stated. He highlighted that information warfare is also ongoing to weaken from within. Dudung gave an example of what happened in Venezuela, where before the United States (US) launched an attack and captured Nicolas Maduro, internal tensions had arisen, resulting in no resistance when it occurred. Observing the conditions in various other countries, he once again stressed the importance of maintaining national unity and integrity. Indonesia already has the national motto ‘Bhinneka Tunggal Ika’, which means unity in diversity. “There are noble values of the Indonesian nation that we must continue to uphold, such as respecting differences, prioritising the public interest, willingness to sacrifice, perseverance, mutual cooperation, optimism, familial bonds, and nationalism. These are our nation’s noble values,” said Dudung Abdurachman.
