A member of House Commission XIII from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction, Yanuar Arif Wibowo, has urged the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) to strengthen its oversight function and field verification of the implementation of various priority government programmes. This was conveyed during a working meeting of House Commission XIII with the Chief of Presidential Staff and KSP officials on Wednesday (3/6).

According to Yanuar, the President has a clear vision and has repeatedly given firm directions and instructions to ministers and government agencies. However, the biggest challenge often arises at the implementation stage in the field, which does not always proceed according to the set objectives.

“The Chief of Presidential Staff holds a very strategic position as an extension of the President to see the reality on the ground directly. Therefore, the KSP must not only receive administrative reports from ministries and agencies but must conduct investigations and verifications directly into the implementation of government programmes,” said Yanuar.

He cautioned that the President needs objective and factual information for making decisions. For that reason, a reporting culture that only highlights successes without revealing real problems must be avoided.

“The President must not be served with reports that are merely intended to keep the boss happy. The President needs honest and unvarnished data. Loyalty to the President is not by conveying pleasant news, but by presenting the actual facts so that policies can be improved and perfected,” he stressed.

Yanuar cited the Three Million Houses Programme, Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), and the Kopdes Merah Putih village cooperative programme, which are government priority programmes. According to him, the ideas behind these programmes are excellent and needed by the public. However, the various implementation and realisation obstacles that still occur must be conveyed openly to the President for an immediate solution.

“We all support programmes that favour the people. But we must not only look at target figures and achievement reports. It must be ensured whether the programme is truly running, whether the public can access it, whether obstacles in the field have been overcome, and whether the benefits are truly being felt by the people,” he said.

Furthermore, the member of parliament for the Central Java 8 electoral district (Cilacap-Banyumas) requested that the KSP strengthen its monitoring and evaluation function for national strategic programmes by going to the regions more often, engaging in dialogue with the community, and directly testing the alignment between reports received by the central government with the actual conditions occurring on the ground.

“The President has provided clear direction. Our shared task is to ensure that implementation also proceeds correctly. Therefore, I hope the KSP becomes an important instrument that assists the President in obtaining a complete, objective, and fact-based picture of the implementation of government programmes across Indonesia,” concluded Yanuar.
