Jakarta - The Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP), Muhammad Qodari, has revealed the distribution of 104 permanent People’s Schools (SR) in Indonesia that are currently in the construction phase.

“The construction of SR phase 2 in Java region totals 40 locations, Sumatra Island 26 locations, Kalimantan Island 12 locations, Sulawesi Island 16 locations,” Qodari stated during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

According to him, this distribution demonstrates the government’s efforts to equalise access to education through infrastructure development, including in underdeveloped areas and island regions.

“This programme is planned under a multi-year contract scheme, 2025-2026, to ensure gradual and structured completion of the construction,” he said.

All are targeted to be completed by 20 July 2026, so they can be used for the new academic year 2026/2027.

In this second phase, the construction is targeted to absorb around 58,000 construction workers and supported by around 5,200 educators.

The programme is said not only to expand access to education but also to create jobs and stimulate the local economy.

Currently, the second-phase construction is being carried out by the Ministry of Public Works through the Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure, in collaboration with service providers from state-owned enterprises in the construction sector and the private sector.
