KSP pushes for presidential regulation to operationalise grassroots economy cooperatives
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) is pushing for the accelerated completion of regulations so that the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives, which have already been established, can provide tangible benefits to the community.
During an inspection of the operational readiness of the Arjowinangun Merah Putih Sub-district Cooperative (KKMP) in Kedungkandang, Malang, East Java, on Friday (12/6), Chief of Staff to the President, General TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman, stated that the retail outlets, supporting facilities, and fleets are all prepared. However, the absence of a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) as a management basis means full operations cannot yet commence.
“I will report to the President as soon as possible so that the Presidential Regulation can be issued immediately. Furthermore, Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, as the party providing initial capital support, can also promptly carry out its role so that this cooperative can operate and serve the public,” Dudress said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
Furthermore, Dudung expressed his appreciation for the readiness demonstrated by the cooperative management on the ground. According to him, various aspects of operational support are available, ranging from buildings and business facilities to operational vehicles.
“The human resources are ready, including the cooperative chairman and the management; the buildings are ready, and the operational infrastructure, including vehicles, is also prepared. All that remains is the Presidential Regulation. Hopefully, this regulation can be issued as soon as possible so the cooperative can become operational,” he stated.
Based on the field inspection, it was noted that the KKMP Arjowinangun outlet has physically completed construction. However, operationalisation is still awaiting the verification and validation process before the handover of assets can take place.
On the other hand, the recruitment process for cooperative managers is still ongoing, with selected participants scheduled to complete training by August 2026.
Additionally, the regulatory aspect remains a primary concern. Currently, the Presidential Regulation regarding the management of the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives is still in the drafting stage.
This regulation is expected to serve as the legal foundation providing certainty regarding governance, asset management, financing, employment relationships, and the business operations of the cooperatives on a national scale.
The drafting of the Presidential Regulation was initiated by the Ministry of Cooperatives and is expected to be completed promptly to support the accelerated operationalisation of the KDKMP and KKMP in various regions.
