Jakarta (ANTARA) - Presidential Chief of Staff Dudung Abdurachman stated that the government is ensuring swift handling and optimal services for the victims of the train accident in East Bekasi. During his visit to the accident victims at RSUD dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid in Bekasi City, West Java, on Wednesday (29/4), Dudung said the government wants to ensure that healthcare services run smoothly, victims’ compensation rights are fulfilled, and coordination among government entities is strengthened for post-incident infrastructure improvements. “I saw that the hospital’s response was quick earlier, and then ensuring the rehabilitation system and post-victim care, how their treatment is,” Dudung said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. Besides medical handling, the government is also ensuring that victims’ compensation rights proceed smoothly through coordination with various parties, including BPJS, PT KAI, and Jasa Raharja insurance. He emphasised the importance of synergistic communication between ministries and institutions so that the victim handling process runs in an integrated manner. Dudung added that the visit also serves as a bridge of communication between the West Java Provincial Government and the Central Government. The Presidential Staff Office is encouraging follow-up actions in the form of evaluations and improvements to transportation infrastructure in West Java, which will be coordinated with relevant ministries and PT KAI. Regarding the possibility of illegal at-grade crossings that could endanger train travel, the government will conduct a thorough inspection before taking further steps. “We will check it overall, so if things like that arise, we will certainly communicate with security elements and so on,” he stressed.
