KSP Ensures Free Nutritious Meal Programme Runs Optimally at Start of New School Year

Chief of the Presidential Staff, General (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman, inspected the operations of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) and the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Programme in Purwakarta, West Java, on Monday, to ensure the programme runs optimally at the start of the new school year. Dudung visited SPPG Ciseureuh 8 and observed the MBG implementation at SD Negeri 3 Ciseureuh, which coincided with the first day of school and the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS). “Let us make this school environment introduction period a child-friendly experience so that schools become safe, comfortable, and enjoyable places, while shaping a healthy, intelligent, and character-driven generation,” Dudung said in a statement from the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) received in Jakarta on Monday. He stated that the inspection was carried out to ensure the strengthening of governance for the national priority programme is running well on the ground, including the readiness of SPPG after the school holiday period. Following the inspection, Dudung expressed his appreciation and congratulations to the students starting the new school year. He hoped this momentum would be used to build a conducive learning environment. He also held dialogues with SPPG managers, school principals, teachers, and students to obtain input regarding food quality, menu variety, and the programme’s benefits for learning activities. “We also held dialogues with the SPPG, school principals, teachers, and especially the children as beneficiaries. Input from beneficiaries is an important part of the evaluation to continuously improve the quality of the MBG programme,” he said. According to Dudung, the MBG Programme is currently entering a governance strengthening phase in accordance with the National Nutrition Agency Circular Letter Number 12 of 2026. He mentioned that the National Nutrition Agency, together with various parties, continues to strengthen the programme’s implementation as directed by President Prabowo Subianto. On this occasion, he noted that there are still school buildings requiring renovation and expressed hope that the proposed improvements could be realised by the government this year. “We also ensured that the remaining old buildings have been proposed. Hopefully, this year they can receive support from the government for renovation,” he said. Dudung emphasised that the integration of various national priority programmes within the school environment aims to support the improvement of education quality while preparing superior human resources.
