JAKARTA - The Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP), Retired General Dudung Abdurachman, stated that placing the SPPG or kitchen for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in Jakarta is not easy. Dudung mentioned that investors would certainly face difficulties in finding land, while also confronting substantial costs when attempting to purchase or rent it. “Well, indeed, if I look at it in Jakarta, it’s difficult to find a location and place the kitchen, because first, there might be no land available, and second, the costs are high. People investing will surely think about reaching the break-even point,” Dudung said after inspecting the MBG kitchens in Kebon Jeruk and Petamburan, West Jakarta, as reported by Kompas TV on Tuesday (12/5/2026). He emphasised that the MBG programme must be closely supervised to fulfil children’s nutritional needs. According to Dudung, if the MBG kitchens are not directly checked, there could be abuses of power. During the inspection of the two MBG kitchens in West Jakarta this morning, Dudung found numerous maggots and rubbish.
