JAKARTA - The Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP), General TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurrachman, stated that the government directly channels the budget for school revitalisation to school principals, thereby eliminating avenues for corruption. “This budget is handed directly to the school principals, so it’s self-managed, ensuring no mark-ups or corruption; it’s truly aimed at building,” Dudung said during his inspection of the revitalisation results at SMP Muhammadiyah 16, Paseban, Senen Subdistrict, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (18/5/2026). For madrasahs, 2,120 have been revitalised in 2025. “In 2025, 2,120 madrasahs were revitalised. In 2026, 9,000 will be revitalised. So President Prabowo wants Indonesian children to learn in safe, comfortable, air-conditioned classrooms,” he said. Dudung explained that the government’s future target is to revitalise 71,000 schools in 2026. “Only 11,000 schools have budgets ready, and the rest will be allocated through ABT,” he stated. ABT refers to Additional Budget Expenditure. “Insyaallah, hopefully, and this budget comes from the President’s efficiencies and seizures from corruptors, ultimately benefiting our schoolchildren,” he added.
