KSP Chief Dudung Warns Public: Provocation and Slander Destroy Brotherhood

Chief of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Dudung Abdurachman has reminded the public not to confuse criticism with acts of provocation, slander, or divisive tactics that could potentially destroy brotherhood within the life of the nation. The message was conveyed by Dudung through a video uploaded to the official KSP Instagram account. In his statement, he stressed that criticism is an important part of democracy, but it must be delivered responsibly while maintaining unity. “Do not equate criticism with provocation, slander, and divisive tactics that can destroy our brotherhood as a nation,” Dudung said in his statement on Friday (12/6). Dudung began his message by recalling the long journey of the Indonesian nation, which was built through the sacrifices of the founding fathers. According to him, the Republic of Indonesia was not born from an easy process, but through a long history marked by struggle, tears, and sacrifice. He touched on various conflicts and rebellions that Indonesia has faced, ranging from the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI), Darul Islam/Indonesian Islamic Army (DI/TII), the Republic of South Maluku (RMS), to various social and political upheavals in several regions, including Papua. These events, he said, were tests for national unity. Nevertheless, Indonesia has been able to endure because it possesses a strong national foundation, namely the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. “This nation still stands because we have the noble heritage of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, Tan Hana Dharma Mangrwa. Different but still one,” he stated. On the occasion, Dudung also urged the public to be wiser in expressing opinions and criticism towards the government. He affirmed that the government provides space for the public to voice their aspirations, including criticism of the policies being implemented. According to him, criticism is part of democratic life that must be safeguarded because it serves as a means for improvement. However, such criticism should be constructive and not used to divide society. Dudung also touched on the government’s efforts in implementing various development programmes. He noted that the administration of President Prabowo Subianto is currently working to strengthen Indonesia across various fields. Therefore, he called on all elements of society to maintain unity and strengthen national solidarity in the face of the various challenges confronting the country. “Let us together, as the Indonesian nation, close ranks and nurture unity to advance towards Golden Indonesia 2045,” he said.
