KSP BUMN Will Not Hold Mass Action to Commemorate International Labour Day
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Konfederasi Serikat Pekerja Badan Usaha Milik Negara (KSP BUMN) is prioritising social dialogue and will not hold mass actions in commemorating International Labour Day or May Day 2026. This was stated by KSP BUMN in an official statement in Jakarta on Thursday, as a form of responsibility towards the organisation’s direction of struggle. Regarding this year’s celebrations, the labour organisation stated that it will hold alternative activities with a more celebratory tone and avoid street demonstrations. “The Konfederasi Serikat Pekerja BUMN has decided not to attend the May Day 2026 activities with mass actions; we choose to hold it at the Polytechnic of Labour with a May Day Festival event but still respect fellow workers and labourers who celebrate with mass actions,” explained the Konfederasi Serikat Pekerja BUMN. This approach is chosen because the labour union prioritises conveying their aspirations through social dialogue channels, which are deemed far more constructive. Although celebrating Labour Day without demonstrations, the organisation remains steadfast in its principles to continue safeguarding work protection for its members. “The Konfederasi Serikat Pekerja BUMN reaffirms its commitment to fighting for rights, welfare, and work protection, especially in the BUMN environment. All forms of policies that harm workers will continue to be monitored and constructively criticised,” emphasised the statement. In addition, the confederation also believes that harmonious, dynamic, and fair industrial relations can be strongly built in the company environment. Such a fair work climate can be realised by building very open communication partnerships, productive social dialogue, and fostering mutual trust among parties. As a closing to its statement, the confederation invites all members and workers to maintain solidarity, continue to enhance professionalism, and uphold the integrity of BUMN performance for the interests of the nation and state.
