KSP Appreciates SPPG Creativity in Malang for Developing Varied Free Nutritious Meal Menus

Malang, East Java (ANTARA) - The Chief of Staff to the President, General (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman, has expressed appreciation for the creativity of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) of the Prokids Anak Indonesia Foundation in Malang, East Java, in processing food ingredients to create a variety of Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) menus.

Following a visit to the SPPG of the Prokids Anak Indonesia Foundation on Friday, Dudung noted that one unique menu item is a burger where the patty is made from cassava rather than beef. “They (SPPG) prepared burgers that are not made from meat but from cassava, and in my opinion, they taste even better,” said Dudung.

He stated that creativity in menu presentation is a vital component, as it prevents children from becoming bored with the MBG programme. Every staff member is required to use full personal protective equipment (PPE) before commencing the food preparation process.

Furthermore, the Chief of Staff stated that all operational activities at the SPPG, located in Sawojajar, Kedungkandang, are routinely monitored, including when employees purchase kitchen supplies. He believes that the implementation of such a structured mechanism is capable of preventing operational irregularities.

“The wastewater treatment plant (IPAL) is already very modern and meets the required standards,” he added.

Dudung ensured that the operational patterns at the Prokids Anak Indonesia Foundation’s SPPG will be used as a pilot project to be implemented in MBG kitchens in other regions. “I will take the reports from here to Jakarta to be presented to the Head of the National Nutrition Agency so that it can serve as a standard for subsequent kitchens,” he said.

Additionally, he conveyed that President Prabowo Subianto has always emphasised that the MBG programme is not solely focused on providing food, but also serves as a form of the state’s presence and attention towards child development. “It must possess nutritional value that will subsequently influence brain growth, so that 20 to 30 years from now, these children will be intelligent and high-quality individuals moving towards Golden Indonesia,” he concluded.
