KSP and Saudi Ambassador Meeting Discusses Hajj to Investment
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of Presidential Staff Dudung Abdurachman and the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Faisal Bin Abdullah H. Amodi, held a meeting to discuss various strategic agendas, ranging from facilitating Hajj and Umrah services to investment.
“The development of these facilities is expected to further ease and smooth the worship of Indonesian Hajj and Umrah pilgrims,” said Dudung in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
Dudung, who previously served as the Amirul Hajj of Indonesia in 2025, conveyed that issues in managing Hajj pilgrims are now fewer and well-handled.
He also emphasised President Prabowo Subianto’s serious attention to advocating for the construction of the Indonesian Hajj Village in Mecca.
Ambassador Faisal Bin Abdullah H. Amodi highlighted Saudi Arabia’s investment commitment of $27 billion or approximately Rp437 trillion, agreed upon during President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Saudi Arabia in July 2025.
According to him, this is in addition to the investment commitment from King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud’s visit in March 2017 amounting to $15 billion, bringing the total Saudi investment commitments to Indonesia to more than $40 billion.
The Saudi Arabian government hopes for follow-up actions on these commitments, particularly in the fields of renewable energy and the environment.
Regarding Hajj arrangements, Ambassador Faisal assured that the safety and security of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims are guaranteed.
According to him, Saudi Arabia has now completed 230,000 visas for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, the largest number in the world or about 10 percent of the total Hajj pilgrims.
On the same occasion, the Saudi Arabian government requested a visa-free entry policy to Indonesia for its citizens, referring to similar policies implemented by several Muslim countries such as Malaysia.
Additionally, Saudi Arabia also requested support from the Chief of Presidential Staff for a follow-up meeting of the Saudi Arabia High Coordinating Council to be held in Indonesia to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
As a follow-up, the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) will soon coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the planned state visit of President Prabowo and the visa-free request.
KSP will also coordinate with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to oversee the implementation of Hajj worship, as well as to plan further meetings with the Saudi Arabian Embassy.
As a gesture of respect and close familial relations, the Saudi Arabian government extended an official invitation to President Prabowo Subianto, the Chief of Presidential Staff, and his wife to be Royal Guests during the Hajj season in 2027.
