KSP and Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Discuss Progress of Garuda School Construction
The progress of the new Garuda Elite High School (SMA Unggulan Garuda) construction as of May 2026 shows very positive achievements and is generally above target across all locations. Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Presidential Staff Office General TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman met with Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Wamendiktisaintek) Stella Christie to discuss the development of the Garuda School. “The progress of this new Garuda Elite High School construction, as of May 2026, shows very positive achievements and is generally above target across all locations,” said the Head of the Presidential Staff Office Dudung after the meeting at the Presidential Staff Office building in Jakarta on Wednesday. He conveyed that the discussion highlighted construction progress in Bangka Belitung Province at 24.52 per cent, 30.27 per cent in East Nusa Tenggara, and 33.17 per cent in Southeast Sulawesi. Construction in the Kalimantan region still faces obstacles. “This programme must be fast; it is hoped that by July this year it will be completed and operational,” he stated. On the same occasion, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology stated that the Presidential Staff Office plays a significant role in the Garuda Elite High School construction, alongside other ministries and institutions such as the Ministry of Finance regarding preparations for endowment funds for its operations. Previously, the government planned to build six new Garuda Elite Schools and add the number of Garuda Transformative Elite Schools in several regions. As of 2 May, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology conducted selections with 240 schools having registered from 25 provinces.
