KSP Affirms State's Presence in Protecting the Rights of All Juvenile Inmates

The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) has affirmed that the state is present to protect the rights of all juvenile inmates in correctional facilities. Head of the Presidential Staff Office Dudung Abdurachman stated that these juveniles are just like other children who have aspirations and a future, and therefore the state, through correctional officers, continues to provide skills training and education. “They are all our children who are currently facing legal issues, and the state is here to continue protecting their rights,” Dudung said during a visit to the Special Juvenile Correctional Institution (LPKA) in Tangerang City, Banten, on Tuesday. He noted that providing skills training is essential so that upon their release, the juvenile inmates can develop their talents to earn a living. In addition to skills, Dudung mentioned that mental and religious guidance is also provided to the juvenile inmates at the facility. To support the training, education, and guidance for juvenile inmates at the Tangerang City LPKA, the Head of the KSP stated that President Prabowo Subianto has provided various assistance, including one interactive whiteboard or smart board. “In the future, more assistance will be added, approximately three more units. Technology is increasingly advanced and sophisticated, so these students are being introduced to positive things,” he said. With this provision, he noted that all schools, both in correctional facilities and public schools, have received equal assistance from the President. On the same occasion, Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto expressed gratitude for the presence of the Head of KSP, who provided motivation and assistance from the President. He stated that his ministry will continue to provide guidance, education, and training to all juvenile inmates across Indonesia, while always paying attention to their rights. “Job training has also been carried out, but we must ensure we do not face issues of child exploitation. So we continue to pay attention to their rights,” Agus said.
