KSP Accelerates Coordination for CNG Mother Station Development in Muara Enim
The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) is accelerating coordination for the construction of a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Mother Station facility in Tanjung Enim, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra, to support national energy security while encouraging job creation.
Chief of the Presidential Staff, General TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman, stated that he and his team had completed coordination for the planned Mother Station. He acknowledged there were several issues, but noted that all parties agreed it was for the nation and state, and that this national project, a National Strategic Programme, must be developed.
During the coordination meeting on Friday (3/7), Dudung conveyed that several administrative aspects still needed to be resolved, including adjustments to the Detailed Spatial Plan (RDTR). However, all parties have reportedly committed to accelerating the resolution in accordance with regulations because the project is a National Strategic Programme.
According to Dudung, the administrative completion will still be carried out through applicable mechanisms involving the regional government and relevant ministries. At the same time, the administrative process and project execution will be run in parallel so that the completion target for this year can be achieved.
KSP explained that strengthening cross-sector coordination is continuously carried out as part of the institution’s duty to oversee the implementation of the President’s priority programmes. This step is taken to help overcome various implementation obstacles in the field so that National Strategic Programmes can run on time, in accordance with regulations, and provide benefits to the community.
Besides strengthening national energy security, Dudung said the construction of the CNG Mother Station in Tanjung Enim is expected to have a direct economic impact through job creation. He added that South Sumatra was chosen as the development location because it has abundant energy resource potential, both natural gas and coal, making it strategically valuable for supporting the development of the national energy sector.
Meanwhile, President Director of PT PGN, Arief K. Risdianto, stated that KSP’s support is important in overseeing the optimisation of domestic gas, particularly the development of Tanjung Enim Coalbed Methane (CBM) and distribution infrastructure in Pagardewa. He explained that with the infrastructure and experience possessed by PGN as Pertamina’s Gas Subholding, the company is ready to act as a bridge between domestic gas supply potential and national energy needs.
