Palu (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI) has recorded that national capital market investors reached 31.13 million Single Investor Identification (SID) holders as of August 2026.

“The increase in the number of capital market investors is driven by the ease of access to digital technology, the expansion of financial education, and high awareness of financial planning among the younger generation,” said Abdul Azis Albaklar, KSEI’s Investor Service and Education Unit, during a visit to Palu on Thursday.

He explained that over the last six years, specifically from 2021 to 2026, the number of SIDs has increased rapidly. The current investor composition consists of 31.08 million or 67.39 per cent local investors and 47,586 or 32.61 per cent foreign investors trading on the stock exchange.

In capital market activities, KSEI acts as a Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) with the independent authority to create binding regulations for securities companies. It is also tasked with providing central depository services, as well as the regular and efficient settlement and storage of securities transactions.

“We record and administrate securities as well as investor asset ownership. Thus, we guarantee the security system of investor assets on the stock exchange,” he said.

He noted that in terms of gender, male investors account for 64.49 per cent with assets totalling Rp1,333 trillion, while female investors account for 35.51 per cent with assets totalling Rp574 trillion.

He further explained that currently, Generation Z (Gen Z) and Millennials still dominate the capital market at 78.55 per cent with an asset value of Rp357.7 trillion, followed by Generation X (Gen X) at 28.69 per cent with assets of Rp620.9 trillion, and Baby Boomers at 2.79 per cent with assets of Rp928.7 trillion.

“Although the percentage of Baby Boomers is small, they hold a higher amount of assets compared to Gen Z and Gen X,” said Azis.
