KSBSI: Prabowo Becomes the Third President in the World to Celebrate Labour Day with Workers

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Confederation of Indonesian Workers’ Unions (KSBSI), Elly Rosita Nababan, stated that President Prabowo Subianto has become the third president in the world willing to celebrate International Labour Day with workers.

“You are the third president, the third president in the entire world (to celebrate Labour Day with workers),” Rosita said during the Labour Day commemoration event at Monas, Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026).

“First Venezuela, second Bolivia, third Indonesia that wants to celebrate Labour Day with workers,” she continued.

Rosita’s remarks were met with a smile from President Prabowo.

“This might be a dream that will come true today. I hope that you will sign Convention 188 on fisheries,” she said.

Secondly, she hoped that Prabowo could champion new labour legislation.

“We believe that you will see us as a group that greatly needs regulations on contract wages and outsourcing, which will soon be enacted,” she stated.

“Please pay attention to the regulations for ojek online drivers. Please also pay attention to K3 (Occupational Safety and Health). That’s all I can convey in front of you,” she added.

For information, the Labour Day commemoration at Monas was attended by hundreds of thousands of workers from various regions.

The event was also enlivened by entertainment performances and artists, including the band Tipe X.
