Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Krom Bank Indonesia Tbk (BBSI) has recorded 1 million new account openings and amassed third-party funds (DPK) amounting to Rp10 trillion. This growth was achieved organically through the strength of Krom’s products and customer experience, without relying on the Kredivo user base as the primary acquisition source.

“This achievement strengthens Krom’s position as one of the fastest-growing digital banks in Indonesia, while reinforcing Krom’s mission to become the preferred digital bank for millennials and Gen Z in Indonesia,” said Krom Bank President Director Anton Hermawan, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He explained that since launching in early 2024, Krom is estimated to have helped customers earn approximately Rp500 billion in additional returns compared to keeping funds in traditional banks. This was achieved by offering the most competitive savings and time deposit interest rates in the Indonesian market, supported by a seamless and trusted application experience. Customer trust is reflected in its 4.9-star rating on the Apple App Store and 4.8-star rating on Google Play.

“Achieving 1 million accounts and Rp10 trillion in deposits organically, even before integrating the benefits of the Kredivo ecosystem, proves the strength of the product value we offer,” explained Anton. “Our ambition is to become the financial home for Indonesia’s younger generation, and this momentum marks the success of the first phase of our strategic plan. The next step is expansion into payment services and lending, as well as unlocking full synergy with tens of millions of Kredivo users, which will further accelerate our future growth,” he added.

Amid increasingly competitive industry competition, the company has also managed to maintain consistent profitability since it began operating as a digital bank. This performance reflects Krom’s ability to maintain a balance between growth and business health, an achievement that is relatively uncommon in the digital banking industry, which generally remains focused on scaling and customer acquisition.

Looking ahead, Anton continued that Krom is focusing on a business strategy implemented through measured stages. Krom will enter its second growth phase by introducing payment features and lending services, while beginning to integrate the Kredivo Group ecosystem, providing access to tens of millions of previously unconnected users. “With a foundation of proven organic growth and profitability, Krom is optimistic about strengthening its position as the preferred financial platform for Indonesia’s millennials and Gen Z,” said Anton.
