TANGERANG – The KRL service on the Tanah Abang–Rangkasbitung route experienced a disruption on Monday afternoon (4/5/2026) due to an issue with the Overhead Catenary System (OCS). KAI Commuter applied operational adjustments to keep services running. According to the @commuterline X account, the adjustments include: Train KA 1744D (Tanah Abang–Rangkasbitung) will only operate to Kebayoran station, then return as KA 1787D (Kebayoran–Tanah Abang). KAI Commuter stated that the disruption was caused by a lightning strike hitting the overhead electrical network. “There is a disruption to the OCS infrastructure between Jurangmangu and Pondok Ranji stations; it is currently being handled by the technical team,” said Karina when confirmed by Kompas.com via WhatsApp on Monday. This disruption has led to passenger density at several stations, such as Pondok Ranji and Jurangmangu. Based on social media information, passengers were temporarily asked to disembark from the train due to the power issue, causing a buildup of passengers on the station platforms. “We apologise for the disruption,” Karina said.
