KRL Stations Under Tight Security Amid Student Protests, Users Advised

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Commuter Line operations are currently running normally. Conditions at Commuter Line stations are also reported to be conducive with relatively busy and smooth passenger flow, amid information regarding an expression of aspirations action taking place in the central Jakarta area. As a precautionary measure, KAI Commuter has increased security personnel at several stations located around the activity points to ensure the safety, comfort, and smooth mobility of Commuter Line users. VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, stated that the additional security personnel consist of internal KAI Commuter officers as well as TNI/Polri personnel, stationed at stations close to the expression of aspirations locations, such as Juanda Station, Palmerah Station, Sudirman Station, and Tanahabang Station. The number of security personnel on standby at these stations totals 72, comprising 22 personnel at Palmerah Station, 23 personnel at Sudirman Station, and 27 personnel at Juanda Station. As of 13.00 WIB, a total of 406,139 people had boarded the Commuter Line. Sudirman Station recorded 45,204 alighting passengers, Juanda Station 21,598, Palmerah Station 23,994, and Tanahabang Station 27,310. ‘KAI Commuter continues to monitor the situation on the ground and is prepared to implement situational operational adjustments following field conditions, while prioritising the safety, security, and comfort of users,’ Karina stated in a written release. All Commuter Line users are urged to always follow the directions and instructions from officers at the station. Passengers waiting on the platform are asked to prioritise alighting passengers, stand behind the safety line, and not obstruct users exiting the train.
