KRL Services Remain Normal Amid BEM UI Protest, KAI Commuter Deploys Extra Security
KAI Commuter has added 72 security personnel at several stations to anticipate demonstrations led by the Universitas Indonesia Student Executive Board (BEM UI) in central Jakarta on Friday, 12 June 2026. Nevertheless, KRL Commuter Line operations were reported to be running normally as of 1:00 PM WIB.
KAI Commuter Vice President Corporate Secretary Karina Amanda stated that the deployment of additional personnel is a precautionary measure amidst the expression of aspirations in the capital’s central area.
“The additional KAI Commuter security personnel consist of internal KAI Commuter officers as well as members of the TNI and Polri, stationed at stations near the protest locations,” Karina said in a written statement on Friday, 12 June 2026.
According to Karina, the additional personnel were deployed at Juanda Station, Palmerah Station, Sudirman Station, and Tanah Abang Station. Specifically, 22 personnel were stationed at Palmerah Station, 23 at Sudirman Station, and 27 at Juanda Station.
KAI Commuter stated that conditions at these stations remained conducive, with passenger flow being relatively busy but smooth. As of 1:00 PM WIB, the number of Commuter Line users was recorded at 406,139 people.
Sudirman Station recorded the highest number of disembarking passengers at 45,204. Meanwhile, the number of passengers disembarking at Tanah Abang Station reached 27,310, followed by Palmerah Station with 23,994 and Juanda Station with 21,598.
Karina noted that KAI Commuter continues to monitor the situation on the ground and is prepared to implement operational adjustments if necessary.
“KAI Commuter is continuously monitoring developments in the field and is ready to implement situational operational engineering following field conditions, while prioritising the safety, security, and comfort of our users,” she added.
KAI Commuter also urged passengers to follow the instructions of station officers and to remain mindful of safety while on the platform area.
