KRL Services on Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung Route Increased for 2026 Lebaran Holiday
JAKARTA — PT KAI Commuter (KCI) has added two electric trains (KRL) on the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung route for the 2026 Lebaran holiday transport period.
Like the existing KRL green line services, the additional trains will comprise 10 carriages each.
“We will operate 1,065 commuter train journeys per day for the Jabodetabek Commuter Line. There is an increase of two trains compared to the Lebaran transport services in 2025,” said VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter Karina Amanda when met at Juanda Station, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (11 March 2026).
However, the two additional trains did not operate during the Idul Fitri 2025 period.
“This therefore marks the difference between last year’s Lebaran transport services and the 2026 Lebaran transport services,” Karina said.
Besides the Jabodetabek KRL, KCI also operates 14 local Merak KRL daily during the Lebaran transport period.
Meanwhile, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Railway will operate 70 trains daily.
On the passenger side, approximately 45 million people are projected to use the Jabodetabek KRL during the 2026 Lebaran period.
This figure represents a 1.19 per cent increase compared to last year’s Lebaran transport services.
“For the Merak commuter line, we also project an increase of approximately 1.3 per cent during the 2026 Lebaran transport period,” Karina said.
Meanwhile, KAI Commuter Public Relations Manager Leza Arlan stated that with the addition of two KRL on the green line route, there are now 206 trains operating on this route.
“So previously there were 204, and with the addition of two there are now 206,” Leza said.
The addition of KRL services will likely continue beyond the Lebaran period. However, this possibility will take into consideration the electrical power capacity conditions on the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung route infrastructure.
