KRL Services at Jurangmangu Station in South Tangerang Resume Normally After 3-Hour Halt Due to Sparks
SOUTH TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com - Commuter rail (KRL) services at Jurangmangu Station in South Tangerang towards Tanah Abang Station have returned to normal after being halted for approximately three hours on Monday afternoon (4/5/2026).
Based on observations by Kompas.com at the site, before services resumed, the platform at Jurangmangu Station was crowded with passengers awaiting confirmation of departures.
Several passengers sat in the platform area, while others stood in queues near the train entrance doors, monitoring information from the public address system.
Passengers who had been waiting immediately lined up in front of the carriage doors.
“Caution, doors will open,” said an on-site officer.
Shortly afterwards, the carriage doors opened. Passengers hurried into the KRL carriages in a conducive situation.
“Caution, be careful, do not push each other,” the officer said.
One KRL officer at the location stated that the train departing in the evening was the first trip after the disruption since 4:30 PM WIB.
The KRL disruption occurred due to sparks on the rail track that impeded train travel.
Previously, KRL services on the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung line, known as the green line, experienced disruptions due to issues with the Overhead Catenary System (OCS).
KAI Commuter Public Relations Manager, Leza Arlan, said the disruption was caused by sparks on an OCS pole, forcing a temporary shutdown of the power supply.
“For the safety of Commuter Line operations and the OCS network, the power supply was temporarily shut down,” Leza said in a written statement on Monday.
As a result of the shutdown, KRL services on the Pondok Ranji-Sudimara section could not operate since 4:30 PM WIB.
To minimise the impact of delays, KAI Commuter implemented temporary operational adjustments.
“Temporarily, Commuter Line services from Rangkasbitung or Parung Panjang directions will only go as far as Serpong Station, while services from Tanah Abang direction will only go as far as Kebayoran Station,” Leza said.
