KRL Passengers Projected to Reach 22.4 Million During Lebaran 2026
Jakarta, Kompas.com – The Chief Executive Officer of PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI), Mochamad Purnomosidi, has stated that electric commuter train (KRL) passengers are projected to reach 22.4 million during the Lebaran 2026 transport season.
This projection represents a one per cent increase compared to the number of passengers during the Lebaran period last year.
“Why only one per cent? Because currently the traffic on our commuter train across all lines is already quite busy,” Purnomo said during a press conference on the Lebaran 2026 transport operations at KCI Hall, Juanda, Central Jakarta, Monday (9 March 2026).
He added that during this Lebaran period, KCI will operate 1,065 train journeys in Jabodetabek.
There will be 70 train journeys for the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Train.
Additionally, there will be 57 commuter train journeys for the Bandung area, 44 train journeys for the Yogyakarta area, and 50 train journeys for the Surabaya area.
“KCI now operates not only in Jabodetabek, but we have expanded to Bandung, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta, both for the Palur-Yogyakarta commuter line and Surabaya,” he said.
Staff will assist passenger activities during the Lebaran period.
“Our hope is that the preparations we have made will facilitate the smooth implementation of the Lebaran transport operations, safely, so that our people can conduct family visits in their respective destinations,” he said.
