KRL Mania Urges Comprehensive Evaluation of Railway Security System Following Bekasi Train Accident
JAKARTA - The Head of Public Communications for KRL Mania, Gusti, has urged a comprehensive evaluation of the railway security system following the train accident in East Bekasi on Monday (27/4/2026). According to him, improvements must focus on safety systems, from infrastructure to operational procedures during emergencies. “That’s right. What we are pushing for is how this security system is addressed, improved, and evaluated,” Gusti said when contacted by Kompas.com on Tuesday (29/4/2026). “Certainly, we are demanding that the security and comfort of the infrastructure must already be fulfilled by the government,” he stated. Gusti also reminded that safety aspects must not be neglected as they can impact public trust in public transportation. “Don’t let safety factors cause people to switch from public transport back to private transport,” Gusti said. On the other hand, he revealed that the KRL Mania community has not yet been directly involved in communication by the operators regarding the post-accident evaluation. Nevertheless, the KRL Mania community has submitted several written recommendations to the relevant parties through a press release. It is known that the accident occurred between the KRL Commuter Line on the Cikarang route and the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek at the platform of Bekasi Timur Station on Monday night. In the incident, 15 KRL passengers were reported dead, while several others sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at several hospitals in the Bekasi area.
