KRL-KA Argo Bromo Accident: DPR Member Calls for Comprehensive Evaluation
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Chairman of the Golkar Party Faction in the House of Representatives, Muhammad Sarmuji, has conveyed his deep concern and sorrow over the fatal accident involving the KRL Commuter Line and the Argo Bromo Anggrek train at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi, West Java, on Monday night (27/4/2026).
Sarmuji also emphasised the importance of a comprehensive evaluation of the national railway transportation safety system to ensure such incidents do not recur in the future.
“This incident must serve as an important lesson. A total evaluation of the operational system, safety management, and oversight must be conducted immediately to prevent similar occurrences,” said Sarmuji in his statement on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
Similarly, the cause of the accident that claimed lives must be thoroughly investigated.
On the other hand, he called for the evacuation and rescue process to be carried out quickly, accurately, and well-coordinated, prioritising the safety of all parties on site.
“The rescue process must be maximised with solid coordination between agencies. Every second is precious in an emergency situation like this,” he stated.
Sarmuji also extended his condolences to all victims and their families.
He hoped that the injured victims would receive the best treatment and recover soon.
“We extend our sincere sympathy and support to the victims. Their safety and recovery must be the primary concern of all parties,” said Sarmuji.
“The government must ensure that all victims and their families receive maximum and comprehensive assistance,” he added.
For information, this fatal accident occurred when the KRL heading to Jakarta-Cikarang was stationary at Bekasi Timur Station.
At the same time, the Surabaya-bound Argo Bromo Anggrek train collided with the KRL consist on Monday night.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) President Director Bobby Rasyidin stated that the number of fatalities from the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and KRL accident at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi, West Java, has risen to seven as of 07.00 WIB today.
