JAKARTA - The electric rail train (KRL) service on the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung route, commonly known as the “Green Line”, returned to normal on Monday evening (4/5/2026).

The KRL had been halted for around three hours due to an electrical disturbance.

Observations by Kompas.com at Palmerah Station in West Jakarta on Monday evening at 20:40 WIB showed two KRL trains passing from Tanah Abang towards Rangkasbitung.

Passengers were jostling, seeking gaps to pass through the carriage doors.

Unfortunately, not all KRL users who had been waiting on the platform for hours could be accommodated.

The carriages were already extremely crowded, while the density on the platform area did not appear to decrease significantly.

Fortunately, the air conditioning inside the train was quite cool, so despite the crowding, it did not feel stifling.

The KRL stopped at the next station, Kebayoran Station. Similar to Palmerah Station, the platform was also crowded with prospective passengers.

They forced their way into the already full train.

KRL passengers who were already inside the train told them not to force their way into the carriages.

“Don’t get in! We’re stuck too. Don’t push!” shouted one KRL passenger.

“Get off, get off!” responded another passenger.

KAI Commuter Public Relations Manager, Leza Arlan, said the disruption occurred due to a spark on the LAA pole, forcing the electricity supply to be temporarily shut off.

“For the safety of Commuter Line operations and the LAA network, the LAA supply was temporarily turned off,” Leza stated in a written remark on Monday.

As a result of the shutdown, KRL services on the Pondok Ranji-Sudimara line could not operate since 16:30 WIB.

To minimise the impact of delays, KAI Commuter temporarily implemented operational engineering.

“Temporarily, Commuter Line services from Rangkasbitung or Parung Panjang directions only go as far as Serpong Station, while services from Tanah Abang only go as far as Kebayoran Station,” Leza said.
