KRL Green Line Power Outage Due to Lightning Strike, Platform Temporarily Closed

Services on the KRL route from Tanah Abang to Rangkasbitung, or Green Line, were temporarily halted due to an overhead power disruption suspected to have been caused by a lightning strike. KAI Commuter carried out travel rerouting. “Operational disruption to the overhead power between Jurangmangu Station and Pondok Ranji Station due to the impact of a lightning strike is currently being addressed,” KAI Commuter wrote on its official X account on Monday (4/5). The following travel adjustments for the Commuter Line Green Line were in place at 17:28 WIB: - Commuter Line services from Rangkasbitung/Parung Panjang can only operate up to Serpong Station. - Commuter Line services from Tanah Abang can only operate up to Kebayoran Station. As a result, there was a build-up of KRL passengers at Tanah Abang Station, leading to the partial closure of the platform towards Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung. This was based on an account from one passenger, Citra, who was affected by the disruption. She queued at Tanah Abang Station. “Yes. The platform for the Green Line direction, Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung, is closed,” Citra told reporters on Monday (4/5). She saw prospective passengers piling up on the platform bridge. Therefore, part of the platform was closed by staff. This situation occurred around 17:30 WIB earlier. “Prospective passengers are piling up on the bridge, but part of it is closed and guarded by staff. This has been about 15 minutes ago,” she explained. Several users of the KRL route also posted complaints mentioning the air conditioning being off and passengers piling up. Passengers also uploaded photos of the KRL carriage windows being opened because the air conditioning was off. Due to the incident, passengers ended up getting off in the middle of the journey from the train that lost power.
