KRL "Green Line" Faces Disruption Due to Electrical Sparks, Passengers Pile Up at Tanah Abang

Jakarta (ANTARA) - KAI Commuter has reported operational disruptions on the KRL Commuter Line Rangkasbitung (Green Line - Tanah Abang–Rangkasbitung route) due to sparks from an Overhead Catenary System (OCS) pole, which affected train operations on Monday afternoon (4/5).

As a result of the incident, several stations experienced passenger pile-ups, especially at Tanah Abang Station on Monday evening.

“For the safety of the Commuter Line and the OCS network, the OCS power supply has been temporarily shut down,” said KAI Commuter Public Relations Manager Leza Arlan in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday.

He added that the shutdown of the OCS network has caused the Commuter Line Rangkasbitung services on the Pondokranji - Sudimara section to be temporarily impassable since 4:30 PM WIB.

He emphasised that relevant personnel are currently handling the situation and making efforts to quickly normalise Commuter Line operations at the location, which is currently experiencing rain.

The company expressed apologies for the operational disruption and the delays to Commuter Line Rangkasbitung services this afternoon.

He further added that to minimise travel delays on the Commuter Line, KAI Commuter will implement route adjustments on that section.

“Temporarily, Commuter Line services from Rangkasbitung or Parung Panjang will only go as far as Serpong Station. Meanwhile, Commuter Line services from Tanah Abang will only go as far as Kebayoran Station,” he said.

KAI Commuter advised all users to always prioritise safety and follow instructions from station personnel.

“Updates on Commuter Line services can be accessed via the C-Access app and KAI Commuter’s official social media accounts,” he said.
