The Commuter Line service between Duri and Tangerang experienced a serious disruption on Tuesday (26 May) afternoon. One train was reported to have stopped abruptly at the level crossing in RT 01/RW 11, Rawa Buaya, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, causing passenger crowding and traffic congestion in the surrounding area.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 5:00 PM WIB during the evening rush hour. A passenger, Novi (30), described the tense atmosphere inside the carriage when the train suddenly halted and the interior lights went out.

“It was around 5 o’clock. I was travelling from Duri to Tangerang after work. Just had to wait until the lights came back on,” Novi said at the scene with the carriage doors already open.

The disruption also significantly impacted traffic flow. The level crossing barriers on Daan Mogot Road and the opposite direction were fully closed, causing long vehicle queues. Many motorcyclists and drivers were forced to turn around to find alternative routes, while locals gathered near the stranded train.

The situation became tense when trains from the opposite direction (Tangerang to Duri) passed through the crossing. These trains had to slow down due to the presence of passengers and residents alongside the tracks.

As of this report, KAI Commuter has not provided an official statement on the technical cause of the train stopping. The level crossing sirens were reportedly continuously sounding to indicate a disruption on the tracks.
