KRL Disruption: Passengers Crowd Kebayoran and Rawa Buntu Stations
The KRL green line route to Tanah Abang is still experiencing disruptions beyond the power outage caused by lightning. The track between Kebayoran and Pondok Ranji stations is flooded due to heavy rain.
“There is water pooling due to heavy rain between Kebayoran and Pondok Ranji stations,” stated the official @CommuterLine account on Monday (4/5).
Passengers are crowding at Kebayoran Station
According to observations by CNNIndonesia TV, due to the disruptions and flooding, by 18:56 WIB at Kebayoran station, passengers appeared chaotic and overcrowded.
Not only that, staff are holding back the escalators and prohibiting passengers from going up or down due to the buildup of people.
Staff also announced that further information on resolving the disruptions would be provided.
As of 18:24 WIB, KAI Commuter reported that Rangkasbitung return trips are currently using one track alternately. It was also explained that KRL services only go as far as Serpong.
“Train 1757D (Rangkasbitung-Tanah Abang) travels only to Serpong Station, returning as Train 1760D (Serpong-Rangkasbitung),” wrote KAI Commuter.
Passengers are crowding at Rawa Buntu Station
Overcrowding is also occurring at Rawa Buntu Station, where hundreds of passengers are seen filling the platform and waiting for trains with uncertain schedules.
The disruptions began around 16:30 WIB, when sparks were detected on the LAA installation on the track from Pondok Ranji to Sudimara. For safety reasons, KAI Commuter immediately cut the power supply on that track, halting train movements temporarily.
As an operational workaround, train services are restricted. Trains from Rangkasbitung and Parung Panjang only operate to Serpong Station. Meanwhile, trains from Tanah Abang only serve up to Kebayoran Station.
This situation forces passengers to change trains up to two times to reach their destinations.
The conditions have caused crowding not only on the platforms but also inside the operating train carriages. Several passengers reported waiting nearly an hour due to schedule uncertainties.
One passenger, Farsya, said she had to change trains twice since departing from Tanah Abang. She was also delayed for a considerable time at several stations before continuing her journey.
Other passengers heading to Jakarta, Dyah and Fitri, chose to switch to other modes of transport due to the increasingly crowded station conditions and the journey not yet returning to normal.
