KRL Commuter Line Services Reduced, KAI Cites Intensive Maintenance
KAI Commuter has adjusted the KRL Commuter Line timetable with effect from Monday (7/9/2026). VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, said the schedule adjustment was made in line with the number of train sets operated in the morning and afternoon, and is temporary.
“We are currently carrying out intensive maintenance on the existing KRL train sets for the sake of journey safety and security,” Karina said in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (8/9/2026).
Karina explained that a total of 17 Commuter Line journeys were adjusted across morning, afternoon and evening departures. The cancellations cover seven morning journeys from Bogor/Cilebut/Depok to Manggarai/Jakarta Kota and five morning journeys from Jakarta Kota to Bogor, as well as two afternoon journeys from Manggarai to Bogor and three afternoon journeys from Bogor.
Information obtained by Republika indicates that train sets produced by PT Inka have developed problems, necessitating inspection of the entire fleet. This has affected Commuter Line services, as the affected trains have had to enter maintenance depots. Meanwhile, KRL sets manufactured in China as well as second-hand sets from Japan are reported to have no problems.
“With this departure schedule adjustment, KAI Commuter is today operating 1,048 journeys across the entire Jabodetabek Commuter Line network, down from 1,065 journeys per day previously,” Karina said.
She said the KRL Commuter Line rolling stock used daily by passengers for mobility must undergo maintenance in order to optimise services, and that this also reflects KAI Commuter’s commitment to passenger safety and security. She acknowledged the inconvenience this would cause passengers during the maintenance period.
“We apologise for the inconvenience caused. We urge passengers to adjust their travel plans accordingly,” Karina said. According to her, KAI Commuter will continue to provide regular updates on Commuter Line schedules and operations through announcements at stations and on board trains, the C-Access application, and KAI Commuter’s official social media channels.
