A train accident occurred at Bekasi Timur Station, West Java, on Monday (27/4/2026). PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 1 Jakarta described the accident as a disruption to train services in the Bekasi Timur area, specifically on the platform at Bekasi Timur Station KM 28+920, on Monday evening at 20.52 WIB. The disruption happened due to the long-distance train 5568A (CL KPB–CKR) being hit by long-distance train 4B (KA Argo Bromo Anggrek, Gambir–Surabaya Pasar Turi route) at the incident location, impacting train operations on that line. Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, stated that KAI extends its apologies to customers for the inconvenience caused. “Currently, PT KAI, together with the police, is carrying out the evacuation of the train carriages and handling of victims at the scene. We are striving as much as possible to restore normal train operations,” said Franoto. KAI assured that field personnel have acted swiftly to manage and secure the location, coordinating with relevant parties to expedite evacuation and service recovery. As a safety measure, the overhead power supply (LAA) on the Cibitung–Bekasi Timur line and the Bekasi Timur platform has been temporarily deactivated. The cause of the incident and the number of affected train services are still under investigation and further data collection. Information will be updated periodically. KAI also urges the public to always be cautious and comply with safety rules, especially in track areas and level crossings, to prevent similar occurrences.
