Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi stated that the KRL Bekasi Timur-Cikarang line will resume operations today. Dudy estimated that the Cikarang Line could be operational this afternoon. “InsyaAllah, if clearance has been given by the KNKT,” Dudy said during a press conference at Bekasi Timur Station, West Java, on Wednesday (28/4/2026). Dudy mentioned that the Ministry of Transportation is still awaiting the KNKT’s decision regarding the reopening of the Bekasi Timur-Cikarang line following the train accident on Monday (27/4/2026). Dudy conveyed that the KNKT is the party responsible for conducting the investigation. “If there is clearance from the KNKT this afternoon, we will reopen the Jabodetabek KRL service from Cikarang and Bekasi Timur to operate again,” Dudy stated. Dudy added that KAI is currently carrying out several stages of preparation processes, including track trials and signalling, to ensure that Bekasi Timur Station is ready to serve KRL services again. “The most important thing is safety, that is what we want to emphasise to KAI in preparing for the reopening of Bekasi Timur Station,” Dudy said. President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI, Bobby Rasyidin, committed to maintaining service quality to customers, both during the recovery period and afterwards. Bobby reaffirmed that safety is KAI’s top priority.
