KRL and LRT Jabodebek Operations Unaffected by Power Outage in Jakarta
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - A disruption in electricity supply in several areas of Jakarta did not affect the operations of certain transportation modes in Jabodetabek. Observations show that the operations of LRT Jabodebek and KRL Commuter Line Jabodetabek continued normally during the power outage in several parts of Jakarta.
Manager of Public Relations for LRT Jabodebek, Radhitya Mardika, stated that LRT Jabodebek operations remained normal while several areas of Jakarta experienced a power outage.
From 10:36 to 11:21 WIB, five stations were impacted by external electricity disruptions, namely Dukuh Atas, Setiabudi, Rasuna Said, Cikunir 1, and Cikunir 2. However, the backup genset system functioned automatically and effectively, allowing operations to continue normally.
“The electrical disruption that occurred did not impact LRT Jabodebek operations, as it is supported by an integrated backup system at every station,” Radhitya told CNBC Indonesia on Thursday (23/4/2026).
According to him, this is because LRT Jabodebek has prepared a backup electrical system, and the company continues to ensure that all main services, including user services and the LRT Jabodebek travel safety system, operate according to operational standards.
“KAI ensures that the safety and security of LRT Jabodebek users is the top priority,” he added.
This incident also demonstrates the readiness of the LRT Jabodebek system in facing emergency conditions, including external power supply disruptions.
Meanwhile, Corporate Secretary Vice President of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, stated that KRL Commuter Line operations across all Jabodetabek routes are still running normally.
“KRL Jabodetabek operations are still running normally while several areas in Jakarta are experiencing a power outage,” Karina told CNBC Indonesia.
