KRL Accident in East Bekasi Causes Train Delays of Up to 4 Hours
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A collision between a Commuter Line electric train (KRL) and the long-distance Diesel train (KRD) Argo Bromo Anggrek at East Bekasi Station on Monday (27/4) night triggered delays in long-distance train services of up to four hours from the scheduled timetable.
One passenger, Rosmawati (42), said she had to face uncertainty regarding the departure schedule of the train that would take her to Banyuwangi.
“Yes, since last night there was an accident in East Bekasi, my husband, child, and I have just been waiting for the train departure schedule to arrive,” said Rosmawati when met at Bekasi Station on Tuesday.
This operational disruption has had a widespread impact on passengers, particularly those planning long-distance journeys from Bekasi and surrounding areas.
On the ticket held by Rosmawati, the train was scheduled to depart at 12:30 WIB. However, conditions on the ground showed significant delays due to the accident.
“I am going to Banyuwangi. The ticket schedule is 12:30, but I just heard from the staff that another train that was supposed to leave Bekasi at 08:30 only departed at 13:00,” explained Rosmawati.
She estimated that her departure could be pushed back until the afternoon or even approaching Maghrib time. The information she received indicated potential delays of up to four hours.
“The one that was supposed to leave in the morning only arrived now. It’s likely that mine will also be delayed by four hours,” said Rosmawati.
Rosmawati said she had not yet received official information regarding the latest schedule, so she took the initiative to seek information herself.
“We have to understand; there was an accident last night in East Bekasi, so all schedules are delayed, everything is late,” said Rosmawati.
The same sentiment was expressed by another passenger, Sri Sulastuti (50), a resident of Bekasi, who also experienced travel delays.
She was supposed to depart for Purwokerto at 13:38 WIB, but as of 13:30 WIB, there was still no certainty about departure.
“It should be at 13:38 to Purwokerto, but up to 13:30 it’s still unclear. Because of the accident, the track is somewhat disrupted,” said Sri.
Although experiencing delays, Sri said she understood the situation as an unpredictable disaster. She considered this different from delays occurring without clear reasons.
“In my opinion, this is a disaster that cannot be predicted. So we have to understand. If there’s nothing, but the schedule is unclear, then we’d be disappointed. But this is indeed because of the disaster last night,” said Sri.
These delays are suspected to be due to disruptions on the rail track following the accident, which caused several train journeys to be rescheduled or wait for the track to return to normal.
To date, there has been no official statement regarding the full normalisation of train service schedules on that route.
Meanwhile, Polda Metro Jaya stated that the victims of the collision between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the Commuter Line KRL at East Bekasi Station, West Java, on Monday (27/4) night, numbered 15 people.
“10 bodies at RS Polri, 3 bodies at RSUD Bekasi, one body at RSU Bella, one body at RS Mitra Keluarga,” said the Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
For the injured victims, there were 76 people, but Budi has not detailed the types of injuries suffered by the victims.
