Kriyanusa 2026 to feature immersive digital installations to attract younger generation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Crafts Council (Dekranast) is introducing a modern technological touch to the Kriyanusa 2026 craft exhibition by bringing immersive digital installations to captivate the younger generation and encourage a love for crafts made by Indonesian artisans.
Dekranas Daily Chairperson Tri Suswati explained that these immersive digital installations adopt a visual concept that was previously displayed at the Indonesia Pavilion during the 2025 World Expo in Osaka.
“This innovation is an experience that may be shown for the first time in a craft exhibition in Indonesia,” said Tri Suswati during a press conference for Kriyanusa 2026 at the Ministry of Communication and Digital office in Central Jakarta on Friday.
Unlike the Indonesia Pavilion at the 2025 World Expo Osaka, which focused on Indonesia’s natural and cultural wealth, the immersive digital technology experience at Kriyanusa 2026 will relate to the processes of making and creating crafts based on Indonesian culture.
“Through this digital performance, they can certainly get to know (Indonesian crafts) better. They can practice digital painting, then display themselves, choose which clothes or fabrics they want to wear from specific regions, and engage in activities related to crafts. All of this is done through digital means,” said Tri.
Evi Celiyanti, the person in charge of the Kriyanusa 2026 Main Stage, stated that cultural icons from South Sumatra have been selected as the primary focus of the Kriyanusa stage. Various regional dances and art performances from South Sumatra will be highlighted on the stage throughout the five-day exhibition.
Nevertheless, the stage will also feature modern artistic touches, with scheduled performances by famous pop singers, including the trio of divas Titi DJ, Ruth Sahanaya, and Krisdayanti, as well as Trio Libels, Silet Open Up, and Happy Asmara.
“So, we are not only providing modern entertainment, but we will also have traditional entertainment,” said Evi.
South Sumatra Dekranasda Chairperson Febrita Lustia explained that in line with the chosen theme, Kriyanusa 2026 will also present a variety of signature culinary delights from South Sumatra.
“People might only know Pempek Palembang. But this time, we are bringing all the signature snacks from South Sumatra. There is nasi minyak, pindang sembilan, lakso, kue maksuba, and so on,” said Febri.
