Kris Dayanti Hopes Indonesian Children Can Boost Digital Literacy
Singer Kris Dayanti has expressed her hope that Indonesian children will increasingly be able to enhance their digital literacy, including through watching films that leave a lasting impression and foster their spirit. “Ahead of Children’s Day, of course, we want Indonesian children to be more independent in choosing and consuming films that can improve their digital literacy,” said Kris Dayanti, when met by the media at the launch of the live-action film “Moana” in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/7).
Kris Dayanti believes that unwise consumption of social media can expose children to information that is not age-appropriate. She noted that family holiday time can also be utilised for watching films that are suitable and appropriate for their age to consume.
In this regard, Kris Dayanti also supports the government programme, Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Protection of Electronic System Governance in Child Protection (PP Tunas), initiated by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi). “I also support Mbak Meutya Hafid (Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs) so that PP Tunas can be realised, so our children are not contaminated by things that are not appropriate for their age,” said Kris Dayanti.
The PP Tunas regulation stipulates that the age limit for children accessing social media and digital services is under 13 years, who are only permitted to have accounts on low-risk products and services specifically designed for children, and must be accompanied by parental consent. Children aged 13 to 15 can access digital services with medium risk, still requiring parental consent. Children aged 16 to 17 are permitted to access high-risk digital services such as general social media, provided they obtain parental consent.
