Kremlin Says EU Is ‘Obsessed’ with Militarisation
Moscow (ANTARA) — Europe is “obsessed” with militarising the European Union (EU) and turning the economic bloc into a military-political one, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday (7 October).
“Russia remains vigilant and is closely monitoring the situation after France conducted a test of a new nuclear missile,” he said.
Peskov said the EU was shaping its defence policy on the basis of confrontation with Russia, which he described as a “dead end”.
Russia is taking appropriate security measures while remaining open to dialogue with EU countries, he said.
On Tuesday (6 October), France test-launched a strategic ballistic missile without a nuclear warhead from a submarine off Finistère, in western France. French President Emmanuel Macron called the test “a loud and clear message”.
