Amidst the rapid flow of digital information and changing media consumption patterns, Indonesian culture faces the challenge of remaining relevant and understood by the current generation. Preserving culture is no longer sufficient through the mere inheritance of values; it also requires creative communication strategies to reach a wider audience. Addressing this challenge, the Faculty of Communication Sciences at Tarumanagara University (Fikom Untar) successfully organised Kreasa Fest (Collaboration, Creation, Taste, Hope) as part of the Communication Week 2_026 series.

Held at Graha Swara, Tarumanagara University Campus 1, Jakarta, the event carried the theme “Culture Inspires, Generation Acts,” serving as a platform for students to develop creativity, collaboration, and strategic communication skills to face cultural crises in the digital era. Kreasa Fest 2026 featured national-level communication competitions, including PRASASTI for Public Relations, LENTERA for Advertising, and AKSARA for Journalism. Through these competitions, participants were encouraged to produce communication ideas and solutions capable of elevating cultural issues creatively and impactfully.

The event also featured talk show sessions with prominent figures from the Indonesian creative and communication industries, including Janoe Arijanto, former CEO of Dentsu One Indonesia; film and commercial director Dimas Djayadiningrat; Alissya Amri from Perhumas Muda Jakarta Raya; and content creator Andovi da Lopez. Their presence provided participants with industry insights and inspiration regarding the development of the creative industry in Indonesia.

Kreasa Fest 2026 received full support from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia and the Jakarta Provincial Culture Office. The Deputy Minister of Culture, H. Giring Ganesha Djumaryo, S.I.Kom., delivered a keynote speech via video, praising the event as a space for young people to learn and create. “For a long time, we have spoken of culture as heritage, which is true. However, culture is not just about preservation, but also about creating the future. Therefore, when telling stories of culture, we are also talking about creativity and innovation,” said Giring. He emphasised that the younger generation has a significant opportunity to introduce Indonesian culture through digital technology, noting that a single piece of creative content can reach millions and drive creative economic growth.

The Dean of Fikom Untar, Dr. Sinta Paramita, S.I.P., M.A., stated that Kreasa Fest 2026 is not merely a competition but a learning platform for professional development. She noted that in the face of shifting media landscapes, culture must be communicated and revitalised through innovative approaches. The event organiser, Erin, added that the theme was chosen to encourage the youth to view culture as a source of inspiration for modern works. Fikom Untar remains committed to providing relevant, collaborative, and applicable learning experiences, supporting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education.
