Kramat Jati market to be trade center

JAKARTA: The Kramat Jati fruit and vegetable wholesale market in East Jakarta will be turned into an agricultural trade center, market operator Zainal Abidin was quoted as saying by Antara news agency on Tuesday.

"The concept is to accommodate quality agricultural products from each province," he said.

The 14.7-hectare market, which hosts some 1,600 traders, is currently under renovation. The market operator also plans to expand the market by an additional two hectares. The construction work is expected to be completed in 2006.--JP
